Thoughts & Observations

It’s Called People Watching Not Creeping

I like to sit and watch people. It’s not about judging others but learning from those in my surrounding. Though I’m not really sure what all it is I learn from watching people but at least it entertains me. I can get lost in thoughts that seeing or hearing something around me can trigger. I find the whole experience very soothing.

It’s not about looking for something in particular or judging others but about taking in bits and pieces. I’ll stare at someones skin color taking in their shade or hue. So many different shades of hues skin can take on whether naturally or store-bought. I’ll notice a tattoo and wonder if there is a story behind it. Men’s hands are very interesting to me. I’ll look at their nails to see if they are clean or torn and dirty. Are their fingers long and thin or fat or muscular? If they have hair on them what color is it? If men have visible veins on their arms I will find myself following them like a trail up their arms. They remind me of roads on a map. Women’s hands don’t tend to be as interesting to me as men’s for some reason. I’ll look for manicured nails. See if they are polished and what color they chose, but that’s about it.

I just get so lost in thought when people watching. Taking in all the little details our  individual bodies have. How someone walks. How they swing their arms or hold a bag. What their shoes look like. How their hair is styled. What their voice sounds like if they are speaking to someone. What facial expression they are making. What their teeth look like or color eyes they have if I’m close enough.

It’s all about the details our bodies show others whether we want it to or not. Many times when I am people watching I will be listening to a Spotify playlist. So the music is familiar enough to me that I will create a little movie in my head.
